English-Guided History Tour of Post-War Waldenbuch

English-Guided History Tour of Post-War Waldenbuch Finding a new Heimat

The focus of this walking tour are the challenges presented to our sleepy little village
past 1945 when it came time to deal with thousands of displaced German families
from the early settlements in the old Reich which then were relocated to Waldenbuch.
They had a strong impact on their new hometown, e.g. housing, population growth,
economic strength, diversity in religion, urban planning. Nothing remained the same
for the old residents.

Your tour guide

Wolfgang Härtel, 79, German, town historian, will be your guide. He has been living
in Waldenbuch for 51 years and has recently done research on the Reinhold-KörberSettlement.

What to expect from this tour?

• Introduction at St. Meinrad Church at Weilerberg
• Walk through Reinhold-Körber-Settlement, meet contemporary witnesses
• Afterwards we meet downtown for coffee and cake at your own expense at
SEHNE bakery, next to DM drugstore.

For more information & registration please do not hesitate to contact Wolfgang Härtel (07157-4195 or w.haertel@alt-waldenbuch.de)
