Die Sonnenuhr (Sundial)
A work by Hans Nübold
Sundials normally tell the time by means of a shadow cast on a dial.
The sundial at the "Sonnenhof", however, literally captures the sun and shows the time by means of a point of light, produced when a ray of sunshine passes through a hole in the bronze disc.
The cockerel stands for the "dawn chorus", when the cock crows to announce daybreak, while the dial represents the sun.
